We are currently seeking an IT Operations Manager in Overland Park, KS for a full-time role. The IT Manager assists the Deputy Chief Information Officer in overseeing the activities of Information Technology's Technical Operations Teams, including Network Architecture, Security Network Architecture, Public Safety, Technical Support, and Physical Infrastructure.
Key skills to be successful in this role include

- Technical experience in infrastructure side of IT (network, data center, cloud, or systems administration)
- Experience budgetary planning, and/or project management
Hours: Standard Hours, but each person is on call for 1 week, 2x per year
Location: In office 5x per week for 6 months (probation period), then 1x per week remote
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Monitoring:
- Oversee IT staff in computer hardware and software support.
- Support datacenter appliances, storage, and server environments.
- Manage networking, cloud computing environments, physical infrastructure, and cybersecurity policies.
- Address staff needs in training, technical assistance, and other professional requirements.
Project Management: Plan, schedule, prioritize, and control work for Technical Operations Teams.
- Schedule and assign projects to IT staff.
- Monitor and report project progress.
- Assist IT staff with work assignments as needed.
- Prepare time estimates for proposed projects.
System Administration: Manage the installation, upgrade, replacement, and maintenance of virtual and physical technology-based hardware and services.

Technical Support: Work with end-users to resolve computer and network problems
- Provide assistance over the telephone or in person.

Incident Response and Disaster Recovery: Assist in developing incident response and disaster recovery procedures.
IT Help Desk Supervision: Supervise activities related to IT Help Desk services and procedures.
- Identify, isolate, and resolve issues with information systems products and services.
Support Functions: Assist IT staff and end-users with hardware and software issues.
- Provide guidance on installations, troubleshooting, recommendations, and developing procedures.
- Assist with acquisitions and related processes.
Strategic Planning: Evaluate and project the City's long-range information technology needs.
- Analyze IT hardware, software, operational, and personnel needs.
- Make recommendations to the Deputy Chief Information Officer.
Administrative Analysis: Analyze current administrative and office procedures.
- Recommend revisions, deletions, and/or additions to improve efficiency.
Standards and Procedures: Assist in establishing and maintaining IT standards and procedures.
- Recommend improvements for staff and operational efficiency.
Education & Special Licenses/Certifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field of study; or an equivalent combination of formal education and work experience.
- Access to the Kansas Criminal Justice Information System (KCJIS) may be required, which necessitates meeting the following criteria: Must be at least 18 years of age, Must not have an arrest history that is severe enough to warrant disqualification, Must not have been convicted of a felony, Must not have been convicted of a serious misdemeanor.
Experience
- Six years of increasingly responsible information technology experience in the following areas: Datacenter or network administration, Workstation support, Physical or cybersecurity, Physical infrastructure, Or an equivalent level of experience.
